As the subject says, BJ's Wholesale has Memorex 16x DVD-R on sale for $9.99/ 50pk cake box. The code is RITEKF1, not the greatest but work fine for me at 8X. They also have DVD+R for the same price, but I don't know what code because I didn't buy any. I'm guessing they are RICOHJPNR03.

You get what you pay for...

I had issues with Memorex 8x +R media in the past. It would burn and test fine, then weeks or months later was unreadable. Haven't tried any of the 16x media.

Not to restart on old argument, but I've never had this happen even with the cheapest junk media. I've still got BeAll 1Xs around here that read fine. Not that I'd put anything important on junk media.

i have found if u buy a high quality dvd-player it helps with compatability and skipping and stuttering issues. i went through 8 or 9 dvd players. all had issues of some sort. i have had oppo dvd player for over a year now. i have yet to see it skip or stutter. even on old princo 1x discs which hardly played on others i owned. u get what u pay for. if they say made in japan usually pretty good rule of thumb. harder to find now a days in retail stores. any folks still see made in japan? brands in stores if so please list em im curious!

Just to be clear. I'm talking about media and storing data for pc use. Not movie playback.

I've only had this occur twice that I recall. Once with the Memorex DVD +R discs and once with some generic CD-R's. The CD-R's had obvious dye imperfections, but most would still burn and test good. But would then I would have issues later retrieving the data.

Yep. This is a reason tests are for fun only, and why DVD players playing a disc is no test at all. Crap media, but you won't know until it's too late.

This is where most people start crying "my disc died". But no, the problem is the disc was ALWAYS bad, you just didn't notice it.
