I used to have a demo copy of Ulead DVD Maker which would allow you to change some of these properties of the file and then output the changes for burning, viewing, etc. What I want to know is: is there a program, preferably free but not mandatory, that will allow me to edit the brightness, contrast and other video qualities? Thanks in advance. P.s. I am mostly working with Divx and Xvid files w/ some mpegs, also.

Avisynth is free, and powerful, BUT it also does require some time
and some effort to be learned.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have just one more question; I will definately check the program out and learn it. My question: Does this app re-encode after editing?

  4. No, it frameserves into your encoder of choice. You open the script as you would any "true" video.

Thanks for the replies, people. I just want to add how helpful everyone is on this site; one of the better forums for rookies like myself. Keep up the great work.
