  1. @Cheezboyz

as a matter of fact, on the web, there is a lot of confusion about ITU recommendations (Rec. 601, Rec.709, etc.), colorspaces (YV12, YUV, etc.) and chroma subsampling (4:2:2, 4:2:0, etc.). Unfortunately, to increase confusion, Mediainfo calls colorimetry what is actually chroma subsampling.
    See Rec.709 and Rec.601 wiki bla-bla.

I wouldn't be so sure that if chroma subsampling is 4:2:0 then colorspace is YV12. Even if the opposite is true.

ConverttoYV12 is necessary because AviSynth works faster with YV12 colorspace and because HCenc/QuEnc require it.

    @T-Fish

If the delay is constant thoughout the clip, you can add an "artificial" delay in 'Edit Title'/'AviSynth'/'Delay Audio'.

the audio was a constant 200ms late. i already fixed it by hand (pgcdemux/muxman). i was just wondering
if you see something weird in the log, so i wouldn't end up having to do it every time i use avstodvd. nvm mate. still great tool

  3. A good way to detect if there will be an audio delay is to use the 'Preview Clip' feat before starting to encode.

Another way, when dealing with mpeg2 input streams, is to create a DGIndex project file (.d2v) and demux audio. DGIndex will create the mp2/ac3 file reading if there is any delay to be applied.

  4. Quick Request. Could you maybe add default settings to Misc for Delete Temporary Process Files? I'd like to be able to set this unchecked by default. If you make some runs and are getting errors, it's easy to forget to uncheck this box after doing all the other settings. Many times if it's some glitch in the audio I can manually mux the .m2v and audio file and salvage the video encoding. As it is now, if I forget to uncheck this box I have to use Vob2Mpg to get an mpg file, then demux that to get an .m2v file... it would just make recovering from an error a lot easier.

    Thanks.

Just installed the latest version (2.3.0) and just can't get it to work. The program just hangs at the HCenc 0.24 screen - Eventually it comes up as not responding.

I know I am obviously doing something wrong - but just can't work it out. Hopefully you will be able to see from the log file.

Running on Windows 7 64bit system. Thanks. eon

    few hints:

    - use 'A2DSource' instead of 'FFMpegSource' (FFMS takes a long time indexing your big input files)
    - make sure you have Haali Media Splitter installed
    - make sure you have ffdshow installed
    - make sure you have Windows 7 Preferred Filter Tweaker installed and select ffdshow as video/audio decoder
    - use 'Preview Clip' function to test output before start encoding

    Let me know

    Hello

Thanks for the reply. No joy unfortunately. Even when selecting use 'A2DSource'

I already have Haali Media Splitter and ffdShow installed - I re-installed them just to make sure.

Also loaded the Preferred Filter Tweaker and selected ffdshow as suggested. Still no joy

I also tried it on another machine (also running windows 7 64 bit) and still had a the same problems. As soon as the HCenc 0.24 window opens it just hangs?

    Any other suggestions?

  12. How long is HCenc hanging before you stop (I assume you do)? What about forcing 'DirectShowSource' instead of 'A2DSource'? Remember to use the 'Preview Clip' feat.

I have been letting HCenc sit for several minutes - usually AVStoDVD quits. As soon as HCenc window opens it just sits and does nothing. No movement, no nothing

I have tried changing to DirectShowSouce and still no joy.

    Just about to give up

    1. Do you have the possibilty to try on a "non" W7 64bit system?
    2. Could you update a small portion of your video somewhere (i.e. mediafire.com)?

    Unfortunately I don't have a non Win7 64bit system

The video in question was Whiteout BluRay - I have the original and use AnyDVD - Tried a direct link to the M2TS file on the disc and also tried to go through Clown_BD. Same thing happens with each version, so I don't think the video source is at fault.

Have a feeling it is something to do with my 64bit set up

  17. Hi there,

try to restore original setting for AVS Source Filter: 'A2DSource' instead of 'AVISource'. Why have you changed the default filter? 'AVISource' cannot read AVC video streams...

  18. I uninstall and reinstall entire package. With default setting AVS2DVD do not even start. getting process 100% and getting program not responging error. That's the reason, I changed previously. I will try to grab older version and see if I can resolve the issue. BTW AVI files have no issue

    Thanks,

  19. Default AVS Source Filter option (A2DSource) is a sort of universal filter function, which tries first AVISource, then, if it fails, DirectShowSource, then, if also this fail, FFMpegSource. So, as a matter of fact, there is no practical reason to choose AVISource instead of A2DSource. I have left AVISource mainly for historical reasons.

If you are having problems in opening the mkv container, there should be some codecs conflict. What does the 'Preview Clip' windows say if you are using 'A2DSource' or 'DirectShowSource' with the mkv?

  29. You have toggled 'NTSC-film to PAL SpeedUp' on and you have let AVStoDVD retain the original AC3 audio track. Audio out of synch is 100% assured.

    2 options:

    1. Leave 'NTSC-film to PAL SpeedUp' off and keep the original AC3 audio (AVStoDVD default)
    2. Toggle 'NTSC-film to PAL SpeedUp' on and force AC3 audio re-encoding

    Let me know

    Bye
