    Small bug report for release 1.1.3: to correctly use the multithread capability, you have to rename the file "\AVStoDVD\Plugins\MultiCoreEnc_.exe" into "\AVStoDVD\Plugins\MultiCoreEnc.exe".

    It is a debug relic...

    Experimented with program settings.
    Default Settings:Encoding Profile Quality-High Quality(Normal Encoding Speed),Select CPU Cores 2,get error multicore encoder will not initialize.
    Change default Select CPU Cores to 1 and program initializes QuEnc ,program executes full cycle to produce satisfactory DVD compliant folder.

    Change default Encoding Profile Quality to Very High Quality(Low Encoding Speed),keep Select CPU Cores at 2,program executes HCEnc,runs through full cycle to produce satisfactory DVD compliant folder.

    version 1.2.0 gives the following info message after avstodvd has been installed but before avisynth is being installed, (version 1.1.3 does not):
    Windows File Protection
    Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your product CD-ROM now.

    I inserted my installation DVD and windows recovered the original files.
    are you installing old versions of system files on top of new ones? if not, what's going on here?

    Also, error on line 1 of avs script. seems to work only after I install FFdshow (or a diferrent xvid codec)
    I thought the installation package contains a codec pack because there is no mention of prerequisite codecs.

    There is a bug in the installer package: it overwrites 2 ocx files in Windows\System32 folder. Waiting to fix it, I have removed 1.2.0 installer package from SourceForge page. There is still the 1.2.0 No_Install (.7z) package available. Very, very sorry.

    Back on the topic.

    Did you try changing AVS Source method? Go to Settings/Encoding/AVS Source Filter and select "AVISource".

    Same error?

    Another (mayve silly) question: do you have DirectX 9 installed?

    Hi!
    just tested(no install version), added some titles, one with subs, another without, one hardvcoded, another selectable.

    It processed the videos with no problems, cant see anything wrong with it except for the fact that it selects 1 pass with Quenc even when i select 2 pass with HCenc, i select 2 pass with HCenc to be the default mode but it still l uses quenc 1 pass mode.

    Apart from that dont see anything wrong with it, like the detail when editing titles where the users can switch bettween titles to edit them.

    The GUi seems a bit pale , but as long the "core" works its not an issue to me.

    Nice work
    I love it when a plan comes together!

    Did you select 'HCenc VBR 2-pass' in Settings/Encoding and then press OK? Not enough! :wink: In Settings/Encoding you can assign the video bitrates used to select the proper video profile. Default is:

    from 2500 to 4500 kbps -> 'HCenc VBR 2-pass'
    from 4500 to 6000 kbps -> 'HCenc OPV 1-pass'
    from 6000 to 9000 kbps -> 'QuEnc CBR 1-pass'

    but you can modify bitrate levels. Find more details in Help (F1).

    By the way, you can force video profile in Title Edit window: toggle off 'Auto Video Setup' and then select the preferred video profile.

    I know... VB6 (and my little free time) does not allow many graphical features... even antialias icons (XP style) are not supported...

(Common .DLLs, or other components in common ?) ConvertX-3 has become very unreliable for me, ever since the approximate time I installed AVStoDVD. Sometimes ConvertX works normally, more often it just locks up at some point during the conversion phase. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ConvertX a couple times now, including updating it to the latest versions, but this has made no difference. It may all just be a coincidence, and you may tell me there is no way such a conflict could occur, but since there is this new version being announced I may uninstall the prior AVStoDVD version for awhile to see if that makes any difference.

    Well, AFAIK, I am the only developer of AVStoDVD...

    I have never used ConvertXtoDVD (you know, it is not free and I prefer 100% free sw), but I can tell you what common libraries are used by AVStoDVD:

    mscomctl.ocx: a standard MS common control library. It is usually present in every Win32 system. AVStoDVD copies it in SYSTEM32 folder if it is not present during Installation.

    quartz.dll: MS ActiveMovie DirectShow library. DirectX component since DX8.1. Untouched by AVStoDVD.

    mediainfo.dll: a very popular (and open source) library to detect media files properties. During installation AVStoDVD replaces it in SYSTEM32 folder if newer.

    None of those libraries are removed during uninstall procedure.

    Hope it helps
