I didn't see any posts or guides on this simple matter - I'm about to transfer lots of MiniDV stuff and am unsure which program to use. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. WinDV has preview, DVIO doesn't. There will be no difference in the resulting files as neither will convert the video that is transferred from the camcorder. I personally use WinDV.

Does the video preview use up CPU resources / memory?

  4. Yes, but it's pretty minimal. Based on your computer profile, you shouldn't have any dropped frames.

Thanks - wasn't sure if a 1.5 GHz processor could take it

  6. I've captured without dropped frames on a P3 650 MHz using WinDV.
