Does anyone out there know if you can upgrade the Professor of a Dell optiplex 745?
I would like to swap out the E2140 for an E6600. Is this do-able or is Dell BIOS locked out the path for upgrade?
If possible, what about the Q6600?

There is a guy claimed he dropped in an Intel Extreme QX6700 Quad Core and it work with all cores but he didn't have screenshot of CPU_Z posted. So I may try the Q6600. I'd hope it work though... I would hate to spend close to 300 bucks and end up spending more money buying a new MoBo/RAM/case for another box. My wife wouldn't like it at all....

edit: Darn, I just found out that the Optiplex 745 chip sets will not supported G0 stepping Q6600! It only supported B3 stepping. This will use much more power (105W vs 95W) than I'm comfortable with (if I can buy the B3 stepping that is...)
