  1. Is it possible to make an audio DVD (not an mp3 disc) that I can play in my CD player?

I swear I read a guide here explaining how to make an audio DVD that could be played on a cd player, but cannot find said guide for toffee

    Any help would be appreciated

Audio dvd? What do you mean? We have dvd-audio, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Audio or a standard dvd-video disc but just with audio and still pictures for example.

And cd players doesn't support dvd media or do you mean a cd/dvd player?

I knew I'd balls up the explanation LOL

However, this is the guide I had seen before:

... it looks to be just what I'm after, that being, a way to put a few hours of music onto a dvd that can be played in a CD player? would that be correct?

It wont work on a cd player because they don't support dvd media.

  5. Ah balls, I think I have jumped the gun somewhat and misunderstood things

The above guide simply allows the CDDA to be placed onto a DVD-r, but not played in a CD player

Ah well, I'll have to forget the idea then

Yep. It's basicly just a standard dvd-video but just with cd audio and no video.

However, you can put AC3 and DTS 5.1 channel audio onto a CD and play it in a DVD player so long as it has a digital connection to a decoding amplifier. Not quite the same thing, but perhaps the start of your confusion.
