HDMI Switching - Cannot convert or upscale video signals from inputs such as HDMI, Component, S-Video, or Composite

HDMI Repeating - Video signals from all inputs are processed and/or upscaled when outputting via HDMI

Also, is it possible for the following sinario:

For video, the DVD player is connected directly to a TV via Composite, while for audio, the DVD player is connected directly to a receiver via HDMI.

Depends on what is doing the switching. Some of the new AVR's have HDMI switching with upconversion.

As for the dvd player, that will work fine.
