    For anyone who owns this,

    Can this drive play other media than HD-DVD?

    the Amazon deal is too good and I'm jumping towards this format. But one day I would like to burn a hd-dvd data disc full of mp3's and my h.264 videos for playback.

    AFAIK, it's a full fledged HD-DVD drive; Just like a DVD reader, it can both play video and act as data storage. If the XBox can use it as a data storage drive is another matter, but it seems like a PC can, judging from what I've read on the web.

    It is officially a playback device (HD-DVD movies). Microsoft doesn't specify whether or not the xbox can read data/games from the drive.
