Trying to play some downloaded .flv files from youtube, I have noted that when I start playback, the video ends, seemingly normally, very quickly, 3 - 4 seconds.

I have further noted that if you forward the video past the half way point, it will play from that point.

I have noted the problem with both zoom player and vlc player. It doesn't appear to be player related.

GSpot tells me I have a plain .flv file.

I tried getflv and and flvmdi. Neither did any good.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Most likely, whatever tool you are using to capture/save the files is corrupting them somehow.
