    can any body suggest this little lad he best freeware that can rip a movie from dvd and automatically convert it to avi format?

    Try AutoGK. But nothing is completely 'automatic'. And AGK doesn't decrypt, so you will need a program like DVD Fab HD Decrypter first for most DVDs and especially the newer ones. Other programs that can do similar here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/dvd-to-avi-divx-xvid

    There is also a freeware version of FairUse Wizard that you may find easier to use than AGK. But with most any of these programs you will need to decrypt the DVD first, especially the newer ones.
