I know TY are the best dvd-r out there, but are the Verbatim DVD-R 4.7GB 16X made in Taiwan, any good? I was thinking of picking up a spindle i saw today. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I'm a newbie and know nothing about this stuff!

Verbatim DVD-R 4.7GB 16X is all I use. They are the best media that you can usually find in a brick-and-mortar store. Only about 1/2% have failed to burn or failed data verification.
Verbatim x16 + or - I have been using for some time. Manufacturer ID is MCC which are as good as any blanks on the market.
TY and Verbatim are the two disks most loved on this forum.
As good as you can get.
Over the pond here we get the ones 'Made in India' but I'm sure the Taiwan ones are identical.
