MPEG 1 -bit stream format

hi,
Can you please provide with me some online material having information regarding MPEG-1 compressed video format with detailed information abt start code bits and header info .

My objective is to read some MPEG-1 compressed video file using C code . so i need to know the exact bit sequence , metadata bits , start code etc in order to read video file .

However , is there any other way i can achieve my objective.

Thanks for replying to my query .

Well i went throught that site and it proved to be helpful .
But can i get the " exact binary bit order format" of an MPEF-1 video compressed files .
because If i know wht bits(and how many) represent header info and wht represents compressed data i can easily read MPEG compressed data bits using C and according modify their value..

... plz provide any relevant info for the above query .
