I've started to have this problem since Monday. Since NeroRecode in the current versions of Nero seems to have a problem with AnyDVD in making back ups of commercial DVDs, I've been using CloneDVD2. But now, it seems like it's having a problem with my DVD burner. At times it doesn't list it in the devices available, other times when it does list it, CloneDVD2 seems either to lose the burner, or, has problem trying to use it. I've flashed the firmware. And, It seems like I'm constantly rebooting to get CloneDVD2 to at least temporarily recognize the burner. Also, it seems like ConvertXtoDVD, and, DVDecyrpter might be having a similar problem. Has anybody got an idea as to whats going on?

    Shut it down .
Remove ide cable and reinsert it .
    Swap power connector

    Try again .

If sorted , check and possibly replace psu .

Bad 5volt will cause pc not to see device .
Bad 12volt , pc will see it , yet device will not open or close tray .

    Other factors :

Drive = worn out , unreliable model .

OS = many possibilities exist , from installed application issues and conflicts , to full blown os nightmares ... some go as far as a complete reinstall of os .

Better to test unit on another pc before considering an os reinstall .
