I have a HD JVC hardrive camcorder top of the line. The only problem is I use video clips and put them on powerpoint presentations in MPEG2 format and it is in widescreen 16:9. I can put it in 4:3 but i get the black bars and i don't want that. I can also put it in niether 16:9 and 4:3 but i get black bars on the sides. Is there any way i can convert a 16:9 into fullscreen with out bars on either sides and without it being distorted? and if i can, what is the software i need to use. PLEASE HELP!!

almost any encoder(CCE, tmpgenc, procoder, etc) can do it. select your output as 4:3 and make sure to select do NOT maintain aspect ratio. what will happen is the outer portion of the left and right side will be chopped off and only the middle will end up in the output.
your camera should have the option to shoot in 720x480 FS in the menu.--

I'm afraid its impossible either the footage is meant to be wide-screen 16x9 or its meant to be full screen(4x3)

This will have correct AR on DVD. For videos wider than 16:9 (2.35:1 etc.) the numbers will differ.
