Out of curiosity, I've ripped my Blu-Ray copy of Casino Royale via PS3 to my PC and decrypted the iso with AnyDVDHD.

The main feature is a 36Gb m2ts file. This plays in VLC with no sign of copy protection, but my P4 2.26 chokes and splutters (yeah, I know )

I've managed to demux the m2ts file to an mpv video stream and an mpa audio stream files using xport. The mpa is intact and plays through to the end, but the mpv file isn't recognised by any conventional programs like VDub, TMPGEnc, Vegas etc.

Any ideas what to do with the mpv file or should I do something else with the m2ts file?

I should add that I'm not doing this to re-encode HD to SD DVD, but I'm assuming that the programs used to do so would be the same.
    Regards,

    Rob

This is a reference from another forum , incase it dissappears ... no plagiarism here

    Tools Needed/Used:

    Back-up Blu-Ray v0.21 (ps3news.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=3787)
    HDBDSplitGUI.exe
    xport
    TMPGEnc Plus

Open up HDBDSplitGUI and split .m2ts file into up to 3.9 gb chunks.

Open up xport and demux all .m2ts file parts, one by one using this command:

    xport -h Mymovie.m2ts 1 1 1

It will demux movie to wherever xport is located

    usage: xport

Open up TMPGEnc Plus and mux all .m2v and mpa together one by one into Program stream. You should end up with 4 or 5 .mpg files all playable on ps3.

Copy to ps3 hdd using external hdd and play or burn to dvd. 2 dual layers are cheaper than 1 bluray. If you are going to burn them to dvd, split accordingly. This ONLY works for mpeg-2!

Thanks for the info on the media splitter though - at least my experiments aren't 36Gb wastes of time and space any more

Id say that refers to "conversion to video-dvd" , which only supports mpeg2 type .

    They weren't to clear .

    I'm not so sure:

Open up TMPGEnc Plus and mux all .m2v and mpa together one by one into Program stream. You should end up with 4 or 5 .mpg files all playable on ps3.
Surely the m2ts files must be mpeg in origin in order for them to be demuxed and remuxed back to mpeg. I doubt AVC could be remuxed to mpeg without re-encoding.

If they where to be kept in original video scale after conversion , that would be fine for general play back on most pc's and ps3.

But when it comes down to dvd-video , as expected by home dvd players , the video scale must come down as it is not supported by dvd specs .

    Pal 720x576 max
    Nstc 720x480 max

You cant have it both ways ... yet
