Imation DVD Writer problem?

My Imation DVD Writer (IMWDVRW16DL84I) failed to detect all CD. I try all kind of CDs but error pls insert disk error come-out. But if I put any kind of DVD, it can detect easyly. try using Nero to burning also failed. I had done chg IDE cable , update/reinstall driver, clean with CD cleaner but all failed. Any idea?

CD laser is probably dead. Time to buy a new dvd burner.

Parts and/or repair costs are more than the cost of a new burner. The cheapest and easiest route is to replace it.
