    Hi guys-
    I've got an old Acer flatbed that works fine for OCR, print color work, etc.

    My Q is about B&W negs, it has a transparency light in the lid for doing that; but when set to B&W the 'Mirascan' software only sees 256 shades of grey. Just wondering if there is possibly alternate software that would see this USB TWAIN scanner, with more shades of grey for the negs, or is that a hardware controlled function?
