using nero express 6.6.1.15
I alway have this "nero dvd +/- r burn failure - no seek complete error"
1 in 4 dvd movies or dvd data cds that I burn are spolit because of this.
usually go like this - when I burn a dvd movies/data - the burning process would go to the 3% mark after 5 sec and stay here until 40 sec. the next two scenario happen - the burning would continue smoothly from here on or "no seek complete error"
really no idea how to solve this problem.
try everything ( another dvdrw, change IDE cable, different kind of medias, slow burning...)
any ideas why, tks.
below is the nero error log file

Have you tried a test burn without the "Imation IMW523252IA atapi Port 4 ID 1" , connected ?
Disable "auto run" on both units , before test .
Use imgburn for test instead of nero express .
Media ? some brands are better , but you dont state those used which have had issues ?
Verbatims or ty's should give less issues .
Burn at half max , or minimum of 4x .
No more than 4.3gig per disc .
Next question would be where the files come from .
Newer titles require tools that can negotiate the newer protection schemes used .
Dvdfab dvddecrypter for those . -
<< Imation IMW523252IA atapi Port 4 ID 1" disconnected? >>
-- if you mean physical IDE connection, I did not but I did disable it in control panel when burning dvds.
<< didn't disable "auto run" on both units , before test . >>
-- does it matter?? maybe try that later
<< Use imgburn for test instead of nero express >>
-- imgburn gave me burn failures too.
<< Media ? some brands are better , but you dont state those used which have had issues ? >>
-- I try all kind of Media - Verbatims ( made in Japan ), Fiji Film, Sony, Imation...
<< Burn at half max , or minimum of 4x, No more than 4.3gig per disc . >>
-- try already, still got burn failures.
<< Newer titles require tools that can negotiate the newer protection schemes used .
Dvdfab dvddecrypter for those . >>
-- I don't think this's the problem. for example - I burn DVD A at first try - burn failure but second try - burn ok.
If I want to burn a dvd movie, I first copy the video.ts to HDD then burn using Nero or chose Nero - create Image then Burn.
thinking of buying another dvdrw and burn duplicate dvds using nero disk copy function
will it solve the problem?
1 in 4 discs spoiled is very costly and frustrating.

About the only thing I can suggest is to try a new IDE cable on the off chance it has a problem. From there, you could try cleaning the burners laser lens, but not too likely a source of the problem. Lastly try upgrading the firmware of the burner. If all that fails, I would consider replacing the burner. But you may have already tried all that.
Next is a problematic power supply. There is also a chance some software is running somewhere and causing problems, but you should be able to stop it by using msconfig in a 'RUN...' window and temporarily selectively killing some drivers and programs.
Worst case, you have several problems that are interacting and that's very hard to pin down. -
rock: In order to backup your dvd discs you'll need to use DVDFAB DECRYPTER to rip to your hard drive first. Then use DVDSHRINK or DVD REBUILDER to compress the files to fit on single layer dvd media. You CANNOT just use NERO's copy disk function. There is copy protection encryptions on dvd movies which need to be bypassed by using DVDFAB DECRYPTER or ANYDVD.

almost solved my problem.
I disabled my virtual DVD-ROM by Daemon and since then I burn around 50+ times using Nero burn video.ts files or discs copy and only 1 discs burn failure.
not bad...considering I was getting 1 in 4 failure previously.
so now when I burn direct video.ts files, I disable 2 drives ( 1 virtual DVD-ROM and 1 dvd-rw ) while using another dvd-rw
noticed that my secondary slave dvdrw can only burn at a max of 6x ( max 16x ) while the secondary master dvdrw can burn at a max of 16x from specs.
guess I will buy a IDE to SATA convertor and connect one of my dvdrw to SATA ports instead of both running on 1 IDE cables.
read that connecting each dvdrw on different cables will make burning process more stable and reduce burn failure.
