Just about any headphones with a 1/8" plug (3.5mm, I think) would work. Many come with a 1/4" plug and a adapter to 1/8". It comes down to how much you want to spend. Some good brands:

There's lots more. I prefer the over-the-head type instead of 'ear buds'. The ones with the cushioned smooth ear pieces seem to be more comfortable than the ones with just foam if you plan to wear them for an extended time.

You would just plug them into your line out on your computer, usually the green jack, the same as your speakers use. You can also pick up a switch box or just a extension cable to make it easier to change from head phones to your speakers.

For where to buy them, just do a Google search when you find a model you like and check prices and shipping to your region.

Look up the words "Grado Headphones" . Those are considered the best for the $, and they are priced low, compared to many other brands.

Also, go to a store and wear some big headphones around for 10 minutes. If it is too uncomfortable or sweaty, consider the open style models which are lighter but not as good sounding in the bass response.

I would'n use ANY headphones as a sound monitor. Especially at frequency equalizing the results would be disappointing. Better find a way of connecting to your stationary audio system.
