VLC Media Player

I hava installated VLC Media Player on my laptop which has Windows Vista
and when I trey to play a movie like .AVI or .OGM I can't get any
video and only the audio.
Windows Media Player plays the .AVI file normally with video
and sound.

So is there a Codec I didn't install? I have a Windows Vista Codec
package which installated perfectly...

no installing codecs won't help.
VLC is self reliant.

Haven't they fixed it in the latest vlc media player? What version are you using?

There is this from the VLC site (Partial listing):

It looks like 0.8.6C is the version to try with Vista.
