    I can remember buying my first VCR for $999. Less than 18 months later I bought my 2nd one for less than $300. Same for DVD burners- $350 for the first, $97 a year later.

    Actually I wouldnt expect these to drop in price quickly as these sorts of recorders are quite specialist items and seem to keep their prices.. I know, I've been looking at buying something similar for a few months (panasonic ex77b, ex75)

    Also, network play of hi-def content via dtcp-ip?? (sounds like another drm acroynm)
