  1. I have an idx and sub file.I have converted it to a srt file.The subs are 5 seconds behind though all the way through.Can some one point me to an easy to follow guide to rectify the problem.

  2. Open the SRT in SubtitleCreator. Go Synchronize->Set Time Delay. After you get it right, go File->Save SRT (or Save SRT As).

    While it's not obvious how to use all its functions by just opening it, if you read its docs, they're quite easy to follow.

  4. Thanks for the help,one more question do i need vobsub and ffdshow both installed?Is one better to use than the other?

    Those are different software for different purposes.
    Vobsub is DirectShow subtitle filter for software video players.
    ffdshow is a DirectShow decoding filter which has subtitle features.
    If you need a player with excellent subtitle support and built-in filters, use KMPlayer and you would not need neither Vobsub nor ffdshow.
