I have a DVD_RTAV folder with the .VRO file (+ the other 2) inside.
This came from a DVD my sister made with her sony dvd recorder thing
What software on a mac can I use to play this video without converting it to another form?
the dvd player that came with my OSX won't do it.

Also, what software can I use to extract the video

I have used ffmpegX before, and it seems to work with the .VRO file.
However, the only format it will successfully convert it to is DV. This is not a problem for me, BUT it makes every file 5X the size (my 200 MB .VRO turns into 1 GB DV file)
Is there a way to convert it to a form that basically doesn't change the quality or size of the file?

I simply want to watch the video before I even know if I want to burn it to a DVD for myself

    Thanks

Toast's media browser can extract from .VRO to .MPG.
Also, have you tried playing the .VRO files (copied to your hard drive) with VLC?
