I have a video in Premiere Pro 1.5 that I need to encode to put on youtube. The problem is that I can't find the right settings that will make my video look clear on youtube (I've already tried many settings).
My video is from my Canon miniDV camera, so it starts out as a .AVI when it is captured on Premiere Pro.
When encoding the video, what settings would be best for youtube?

Note: my video was shot in 16:9 widescreen and I am editing in a 4:3 with the video scaled down to 75% so that it fits the 4:3 box with black bars on top and on the bottom (because youtube uses 4:3, not 16:9).

I resize mine to 320x240 in Virtualdub , then I encode to .FLV with FLV Encoder before I upload to YouTube. If I want better quality on YouTube crank up the bitrate in FLV Encoder but I've given up on that. What comes out at YouTube's end is never consistent.

YouTube's gonna re-encode it to .flv anyway.....but another tip I heard was simply make it the best quality you can in WMV but keep it JUST under the 10 minute, 100MB max...unless you have a director's account on YouTube.
None of the tips I've heard involve Premier Pro.

Exactly it will just be re-encoded anyway. Which brings up a point. Why encode to flv?

As said resize down to 320x240 since it will be resized to that anyway. Same goes for the audio. Just match whatever specs they use in terms of framerate, resolution, audio sample rate, channels, etc.

My vids that I encode to .flv beforehand are available to the public to view in half the amount of time for the vids I did in Xvid....that is the main reason why I use/recommend .flv first.

YouTube recommend 320 x 240, Xvid, under 100MB with MP3 audio at 128 kbps. Use the highest bitrate you can to fit to 100 MB. Anything else is a waste of time.
