I have an AVI file that I would like to burn to DVD that has text on the lower part of the video and appears a few times during the playback. Is there an easy way to maybe add a black box across the bottom of the whole clip so that when I burn it to DVD-R it will be hidden under the box and you will not have it coming up to distract as we watch it anymore?
    Thank You!

  3. It's not easy, but it can be done. It can be removed during your encode to MPEG-2 for DVD by using AviSynth's CropBottom filter, followed by an AddBorders command. Or just use the Letterbox command which will cover it. You can even use these things only when the writing is visible, and not use them when there's no writing. You do that using either a bunch of Trim commands, or a bunch of ApplyRange commands:

But if you haven't had any encoding and AviSynth experience, I'd say forget it.
