Hi, I have an NEC 2500a dvd burner and it used to burn DVD Video Files just fine and one day it stopped. Everytime I try to author a DVD vidoe in nero, or try to backup a dvd with DVD shrink it gets to between 18%-90% and then has errors.

I have tried updating the firmware, enabled dma, and a few other things I have seen mentioned on thread here. I have reverted from Nero 7 to 6.6.0.13 still with no luck.

Can someone please help me? Thanks!

    Below is my error log:

I would first try burn with something else like imgburn. If it also fails it could be a hardware problem....time for new burner!

Thank you for your reply Baldrick, I tried imgburn as you suggested and had no errors while using it in test mode.

However when I tried to actually burn the DVD the first error that appeared was this:

    I/O Error!
    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condtion

    CDB: 28 00 00 1D 3D 10 00 00 01 00

I clicked try again and same error came up so i tried to continue and they same error came up with the last digit of the sector number incrementing

The error log had the follow output.

What is TTH02 media. Can't find this mediaID in the lists on this site.

Is this what you have used in the past?

The problem you're having is TDK dvd media is so crappy. Try using VERBATIM dvd media which is on sale right now at BEST BUY DVD-R/+ 50 pack spindle $12.99, sale ends today. If you still have those errors with the VERBATIM dvd media than as Baldrick suggested it is time for a new dvd burner.

I wish it were that simple but it is also doing it when I use my verbatim discs as well.

weird thing is last night I tried copying the DVD files created in shrink to a disc using nero itself, and it actually appears to have worked!

You posted a link to newer 16X media. You have an old drive whose firmware doesn't have a write stategy for it. If you want to try other discs get older ones like Taiyo-Yuden 8Xs.
