I have a Pentax Optio camera which I use for taking still images.

I also have an underwater case for it, and have recently used it to capture video underwater. The only problem is that it captures at 30fps (320x240), and I would like to combine the video footage with video shot above water on a normal camcorder using the PAL format (25fps).

Is there any way to change the recorded frame rate of videos on still cameras?
Perhaps there is a firmware update which can do this?
There is nothing obvious in the manual / standard menu settings.

I would prefer to capture at 25fps rather than convert the 30fps to 25fps whilst editing.

    Thanks for any help

I have 25/30 selectable on Sony, try to search for it in the manual, it can be hidden in setup menu.

I haven't seen any still camera with 25fps, it's usually 15fps or 30fps....so it must be complex to change it...or ?

Where is that menu on Sony cameras?
My friend has a Sony, so at least that would work if I used his camera.

Are then any standard ways of getting to a hidden setup menu?

Here's the manual for my camera and I only see 'video out' PAL/NTSC setting on p.53. It is possible that the same captured frames are outputted one of the 2 ways as MPEG1.

The manual is from this big collection:

A Pentax Optio manual that came to my view mentioned just 15/30 modes.

Alex_ander, are you talking about the outputting of images to TV, or the capturing of video files.

My understanding is that most cameras will allow you to specify PAL (25fps) or NTSC (29.97fps) output for viewing still images on your TV. This is not what I am interested in.

What I am interested in is: when you capture a video file, what frame rate does it get capture at, and like Baldrick has said, I have only seen cameras that do 30/15fps.

I will take a look at the manual link you sent.
