Where did the copied DVDs come from (friends, copies you made on your PC)? How were the copies produced (software, procedure, media)?

Or shall we just just consult our Ouija boards?

Does it read any DVD-R? I mean - does it not play your Video DVD backups, or doesn't it recognize DVD-R (and/or +R) disks at all?

it seem that it is not reading recordable media. Even though the DVR is capable of reading Bot DVD+ R and -R.

Then I'd diagose it as hardware problem - Your DVD reader is on its last leg.

OK I went to the Pioneer web site and got the current drivers for my model. I can now burn a movie with dycrypter again. The burner is now recognizing blanks and able to burn. Im waiting to see if it will now be able to view what is burned on a recordable disc.

No Dice. It failed to close out the disc when done.

You Might be right. I think my DVR is on its last leg when it comes to reading copied dvds and dvds recorded from stand alone players. I might have to replace it.
