Im trying to convert an AVI file to a video_ts folder and have gone crazy with different settings. When searching the forum I've read a lot about making short clips to save time. I tried setting the "start from" time very low which i thought would mean a short clip - but the encoding time didnt chance. Then i tried a higher start time number to see if that means the end of the film - but still the encoding time is the same.

How can i make shorter clips to se the resulting video:ts folder without encoding the whole avi file?

    Thanx

Try opening your AVI in ffmpegX, setting the "Start from" time, then use the Split button to make a two-part copy of your AVI; part 1 from 0:00:00 to the set time, part 2 from the set time to the end of your file. Next, open the small part 1 in ffmpegX and convert that.
