The only mod I have seen it is kind of complicated, and not intended to make your cable box work with other companies. Some knowledge of electronics and computers is required, because a chip in the box is removed, and replaced by a flashed one ( the firmware is reprogrammed using a computer connection to a printed board).

Modern boxes are programmed directly over the cable from the cable company. Talk to them.

Already talked to my cable company and to the manufacturer of the cable box. They both said that I need to contact the company that has the serial code of that box on their list. Problem is, I don't know which company it is, I'm not even in the same country where that cable box came from.
