So for computer gamers do you prefer the keyboard and mouse combo or do you strictly use a gamepad?

For first person shooters I strictly use the keyboard and mouse. It is the best platform for games like doom and similar titles. You just can't replicate the precision with a gamepad - no matter how good the pad is. Now for flight sims I will prefer a joystick as that gives you much better control.

    How about you?

  2. Depends on the game, mostly kevboard and mouse. As far as first person shooter goes can't possibly see using anything else.

Mouse and keyboard for first person...I'm waiting for Half Life Episode 2!

Gamepad for flight sims and racing games.

Keyboard for the rest...but I don't play that much...just some Trackmania United now.

  4. This is a bogus poll, where is the steering wheel and pedals option?

Mouse & Keyboard is ass-backward to me -- I just cannot get used to it. It's totally un-intuitive.

So xylob you never played the original dos doom on the keyboard then huh? Or the original quake either? Both ID games are born for the keyboard and mouse. Precision can't be beat in my mind.

    8)

I've been playing video games for 33+ year's and i love gamepads on console game's, but i find the opposite to be true....
No gamepad will EVER touch a good gaming mouse & keyboard, espc. on game's like the Unreal Tournament serie's, ect. way too many option's that need to be done in a split second that a gamepad just cannot control for the lack of buttons.

That's one reason i could never get into U.T., doom 3, ect. when they were ported to the PS2, just did not have the option's or as fast as on the pc with a keyboard.

And as Yoda said, they will never be as percise as a good mouse 8)

Now for pacman, and other 2-d side scroling game's of old the gamepad works well....

Mouse and Keyboard for FPS's and flightstick for flying games. I only use the gamepad when playing MAME or Nesticle.

Depends on the type of game. Mostly keyboard and mouse. For certain emulators I use a pad (its a lot more comfortable as I've always played those games with a pad). There's a N64 emulator that takes advantage of the analog stick and really is similar to the N64 stick.

I can't play a FPS like DOOM III with a gamepad ... I have to use the mouse and the keyboard. I don't understand how you play those with a gamepad? I remember trying QUAKE III on the Sega Dreamcast and I couldn't navigate for hell. How do people play stuff like HALO with a gamepad???
