what is the difference btw tv capture card video capture card and tv tuner

hello
what is the difference btw tv capture card, video capture card, and tv tuner card,i have a pinnacle av dv catpure card and i was wondering if i had bought a tv capture card plus a firewire card,it would have done equally the job of a video capture card plus abilty to capture tv programmes hat is for a tv capture card.i was also wondering which is higer the video capture card or tv catpure card.

Explain more your specific card and software and what you are trying to capture.

Tuner card can tune analog TV from ant/cable. Most also cap from composite or S-Video.

Cheap capture cards rely on a fast computer to encode. Premium capture cards encode to MPeg2 in hardware and work great on slow computers. Think along the lines of "no lunch is free".

Firewire capture is for camcorders or special DV format cature devices.
