I am having problems with my Vista Ultimate media center playing ripped movies stored on my HD. My media center 2005 would do it perfectly though. I have all the VOBs in the correct folders and groupings, but MCE Vista does not recognize them as valid files, however Media Player 11 works just fine.

I am trying to have all my movies ripped to my C and use it as a media server, and have my x-box 360 hooked up to my home theater and just stream my movies over. Has anyone come across this issue?

The Xbox 360 media extender only streams MS formats, you need a recoder to change it on the fly, I think transcode 360 does it but I don't have an xbox 360 so haven't tried it.
