I bought a movie for DOWNLOAD from a movie site. (I paid for the movie with a credit card and then was allowed to download the movie). Anyway, I wanted to import it into Windows Movie Maker to crop it to my liking. It then says: (file name) is protected using digital rights management and cannot be imported.

How can I import it to windows movie maker? Would it work if i uploaded it to a hosting site then re-downloaded it? Is there a way to crop the video without windows movie maker even though it's copyrighted?

Thats really the whole point of Digital Rights Management, you get to watch the movie and nothing else. I don't think there's currently any way to remove it from video files. In the United States the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) makes it a crime to circumvent DRM technology...

well, i downloaded that program, but it isn't working. I don't think it works with windows media player 11, and that's what i have. Are there any other programs I could use?

    Have a look here:

Down near the bottom, this issue seems to be addressed.

(Disclaimer: I don't currently use FairUse4WM or WMP 11 (but have been looking into FU4WM lately), but did a little searching and found some info that might help. You might want to check the Doom9 forum as well for info.)
