  1. My JVC DR-M100 doesn't like my video signal from my JVC HR-S9600U when I turn my video stabilizer on. I never used the stabilizer before because the tapes didn't require it, but now I ran into a few tapes that really need it. I would otherwise use the TBC feature built into the VCR, but it jumps vertically very bad.

When I turn on the stabilizer, the video that is shown on the DVD Recorder jumps horizontally very bad and sometimes the picture gets very bright. But if I have the VCR go directly to the TV and not go through the DVD Recorder it plays perfectly with the stabilizer.

The connection between my DVD Recorder and VCR is composite (A/V) cords. I switched the cords with another set I had and it didn't help.

I got desperate yesterday and I brought in my old VCR and recorded the video from my JVC VCR (which was playing the original tape with the stazilizer) and put the newly recorded tape into my JVC VCR. I could then turn on the TBC feature and the video didn't jump, but the quality wasn't as good (with it being a copy).

Yesterday, I also brought in my Apex DVD Recorder (which I resurrected thanks to this forum, it had a problem with finalizing DVDs), and the video played like it was suppose to with the stabilizer on.

But I would like to record the video on the JVC DVD Recorder because the quailty is better with the 3 hour setting. Any suggestions? If it requires buying a TBC, I'll just record the VHS on my Apex DVD Recorder because I don't have that kind of money right now.

You should try using the APEX in passthrough (as an external TBC/Frame Synchronizer) between the VCR and the JVC DR-M100.
Life is better when you focus on the signals instead of the noise.

    Great idea! That works.

    Thank you!

Which model Apex is that? If the DRX-9000 unit, be careful about how it randomly switches IRE sometimes, in the middle of a signal. And I mean BRIGHT shifts, from 0 IRE to 15 IRE.

I have DRX-9200. I did notice that it is slightly brighter than what it should be (I pause the VCR and it goes back to the brightness it is suppose to be). It's macrovision and I do have a device to remove it, but it makes the video jump. But the macrovision is constantly bight, not a jumpiness between dark and bright, so it's good enough for me.

    Thanks for the warning though
