Looking at these, what is the difference? I thought that the datalifeplus label was the premium version, but I see that it is less expensive than the 'regular' verbatim at rima. Are they both MCC made?

16X are MCC,or TY

archaeo mentions Rima.com so I assume he is in the US. Verbatim 16x DVD-R is going to be MCC 03RG20 of either Prodisc or CMC origin. Both are good but most prefer the CMC the best.
If you buy the 50 count cakeboxes in stores you can distinguish CMC versus Prodisc quite easily. The CMC ones have the LOCK <--> OPEN on the lid in a serif font. Prodisc is sans serif font. Here's a link to what I mean:

The Verbatim branded TY are available in Europe and possibly elsewhere but not in the US. Good luck
Actually: If I'm going to get verbatims, I'd prefer the MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp) variety.
CMCs and ProDisc are crap in comparison.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

I think you misunderstood. MCC discs are made in Taiwan by CMC and Prodisc, and in India by Moser Baer under Mitsubishi's direction. Very little Verbatim/MCC is made at Mitsubishi's Singapore plant, aside from DL media.Originally Posted by classfour
They're not "CMC" or "Prodisc" media either. Think of it in terms of real estate and nothing more. Verbatim media are made at the same location, but it's not the same media. It's still using Verbatim equipment/materials/processes/quality.

thanks, but getting back to the question: what is verbatim's 'datalifeplus' 16x? Any different than their 'regular' 16x?
Here in the States, there is no difference. It's all MCC media made in Taiwan. DataLifePlus used to be available at retail and for the professional media online, but now it's solely used for the pro media, with the single exception of DataLifePlus 52x 50 disc retail spindles.Originally Posted by archaeo
