You know how when you speed up video it looks really crappy? Like in old films and some newer ones (Lost Highway had one scene for example) how it just looks fake? Well, if you filmed at 48p (is that possible?) and speed that up twice as fast would it look more normal? Just something I thought up and haven't really thought out or researched at all.

If you want to play around with that, try VirtualDub Mod or the regular VD. You can adjust the framerate to about anything you want. It's in Video>Framerate.

If you filmed at 48p you would playback at half speed. Playback will always be at standard rates. Slow motion is created by filming at a higher framerate, and then playing back at normal speed. Fast motion is created by filming at a slower frame rate, and playing back at normal speed. Old film that looks fast does so because it was originally filmed at around 16 fps, but has been badly transfered as 24 fps.

So faster playback = slower recording framerate, slower playback = faster recording frame rate.
