how to convert dvdrip avi's to vcd

i have various dvdrip movies usually measuring around 700mb they are all avi;s and i want to convert and burn them to vcd, i have tried various converters including boilsoft avi converter, Apex.Video.Converter.Pro.v5.32, WinAVIVideoConverter, Allok AVI to DVD SVCD VCD Converter. they all convert these avi's to mpeg1 to burn to vcd's but the size of these mpeg's is usually around 1Gb which is impossile to burn to vcd.

Is there any software or trick to convert and burn dvdrip movies to vcd's i have to give these files to someone who has a vcd player so any other conversion format is out of question.. can anyone help??

VCD is a fixed bitrate @ 1150 kbps. You can fir 80 minutes to one VCD.
You can lower the bitrate (but no(?) oneclickwonder tool will give you that option) to squeeze more to a CD at the cost of even lower quality. Read up on AVI to VCD under Convert left.
I guess the rest of the replies will be: "Forget about VCD - get a DVD burner!"

Most commercial VCDs split movies over 2, or even 3 discs.

TMPGENC will let you cut MPEG1 if you don't have another way.
You can author with VCDEasy or VCDGear.
    (These all have free versions.)

If your movie isn't too long, you might look for extra large capacity CDRs. Here I can find up to "99 minute" size. These are non-standard, but play on my DVD player.

..and if your burner supports it. My writer only allows me 89.something before erroring out.

I used Nero 6 and I never convert .avi files to any other format. If u have 699MB .avi file, write it as video cd with nero 6 to 700MB empty video cd. Then nero will automatically encode the movie and will burn it to the cd. This burned cd can be played on any vcd or dvd player wthout any problem.

    I did this process today....

    best regards,
    Dilan silva.
