sent message is in outbox?

I sent a message to another member earlier on today - i pulled up his profile and clicked on the send PM link, filled it out and am sure i clicked send.

I've just been to check my inbox and had a look in my sent box as well - i couldn't see the message so i had a look in the outbox and it was there? Has it been sent? I couldn't see anyway of sending it so i clicked on it to show it in full and still couldn't see a send button.

Yes, it has been sent but the receiver has not viewed it yet....and when the receiver views it will be moved to the sent box.

So how come we don't rightfully rename it as 'delivered'?
