How to Select the Correct VGA to Vga Cable

In a previous post in this forum, I talked about replacing my current monitor and then connecting my CPU VGA's output to a LCD HDTV VGA's input. The HDTV has a VGA input resolution of 1366X768 60hz requirement. My CPU's VGA output is 1360X768 60hz.

So while I was surfing the net to see what a 10' VGA to VGA cable would cost, one site said a VGA to VGA connected to a TV would only pass up to 640X480--that got my attention!

However, I want to connect to a HDTV VGA input that is compatable with my CPU's output (an ATI Radon X300 I think).

So would a 'standard' VGA to VGA cable work with these 15-pin connections and pass and receive the resolutions indicated? Or would I need to purchase something different like a SVGA or XSVGA cable? Thank you.

Yes at 10ft a normal VGA cable will work. 15ft or over should be "double shielded" and better quality.

If you have a solid VGA card, then you most likely can drive 15ft of VGA signal. Better VGA cards use better analog video ampilfers which give sharp and strong drive.
