For the 4th time in a couple weeks, McAfee unexpectedly turned itself off on my computer until it could 'verify' itself. This it apparently can't do easily, it takes several manual trys; and the penalty for not verifying is that you must re-install the product (and of course sit thru all the updates and preliminary scan).

Why does McAfee need to verify itself so often?

Also, Norton seem to have some troubles of its own...

Of course M$Vista will get rid of these malware probs once & for all, right?

Well, if you believe in McAfee's or Norton's "protection" then you have to cope with their ways...

It's their DRM at work. Another reason to steer clear of products that do this sort of thing (Tmpgenc,Vista...hint,hint)

Yet another reason to stay clear is both of these products bring a computer to its knees. They sits on top of everything in your computer and it causes your system performance to take a major hit. Every data transaction goes through their background monitoring and the end result is a VERY slow computer.

Not to mention those $%#^ McAfee popup messages, even with the registered product. Unfortunately, the general population is so brainwashed - telling someone they should ditch this junk results in looks of disbelief and a five minute debate, ending with "Look, you should take my advice. I do this for a living. You still don't know how to check your e-mail"
