Hello. I am a newbie on this forum. I know quiet a bit about authoring, ripping and copying DVDs, but what I recently stumbled across I can't explain. Any information would be very much appreciated.
My friend used a Panasonic DVR to copy a set of DVDs for me. They are all TV shows that were captured and converted/merged together on DVD. I was able to play 7 DVDs from start to the finish, but 1 DVD only played for like 2 minutes and they it would stop and start over again (in a loop). This happens not only on my DVD ROM (laptop), but also on other Computer-based DVD players. As soon as this DVD is inserted into Hardware/Portable DVD player, it plays without a hiccup. I also noticed that for that DVD, the VOB files are ridiculously small (like 100MB) for a 3 hour show. I guess that's why it is only playing couple of minutes. Anyone has any suggestions what I can do to "Reveal" the rest of the content to be visible on the computer, and playable through laptop. Thanks for any info anyone can provide. I will try to check and respond to questions periodically.

Try ripping/copying the disc to your HD. Then open the folder using DVDShrink or similar program and create a new image. DVDShrink will create 1gig vobs. Then just burn the new image.

Thanks a lot for the advice. That WORKED! I use DVDShring quiet often, but in this case I didn't even think about it, because it LOOKED like computer is not reading ALL VOB files. But after running analysis, I was able to reauthor and it looks perfect now. I am just wandering why would a stand alone DVD recorder do that kind of a thing rendomly? Thanks A LOT!
