  1. I've used this program to make AVI

    FLV Extract
    Virtual Dub Mod
    VFW Plug-in from Cedocida
    DivX 6.x Codec

    And the question is,
After i converted into DivX at 720x480 at birate 1500 kbps, still the final result is not very good. How i can convert to get high quality near DVD quality ??? and what plug-in i need for Virtual Dub Mod to get the best quality ??

    Thx

Most FLV movies you'll find on the net often use rather low resolution and bitrate, so they're often not going to look all that great converted to a higher-resolution AVI. Plus, they'll take another quality hit on re-encoding to that format.

If you're going to author a DVD with it afterward, that's another re-encode.

Unfortunately, you're probably not going to be able to get near-DVD quality from re-encoding FLV files.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

No. Depending upon what you're planning to do with the video, you want to avoid re-encoding it too many times... especially since the source is a low-resolution FLV video. Scaling it to a higher resolution and/or increasing the bitrate won't really increase the quality.

There are post-processing filters for VirtualDub that you can use to attempt to improve the picture quality, but for a low-quality FLV video, it probably won't be of much help.

If you are going to create a DVD from the videos, use a converter that will let you re-encode from the FLV video straight to DVD-spec MPEG-2 video.

Or, if that's not practical / possible, use a lossless (or nearly so) codec like HuffYUV to make your intermediate AVI file.

  6. Usually FLV files are of very low quality and small framesize. I have converted a few trying to imporve the quality and put them on a dvd for viewing on my TV.

The filter list in VirtualDubMOD will probably be a little different for each file. That is going to depend on the quality of the original. If you take your time you can get some pretty good results although it won't be perfect. lol

Here is a pretty good filter list to get you started. For filters you don't have just run a www.google.com search. They should be easy to find.

Something that has worked for me is to resize to your 720 framesize but leave some black bars around the video (letterbox) so it does not show full screen on the tv set. Keeping it from blowing completely up to full screen will not show the flaws in the video so much. I have tried various amounts of black bars around the video but I guess that is a personal taste deal that you may not like. I don't mind some black bars if the video quality looks better. lol
