  1. hi all. first off, i don't consider myself a newbie but i just wanted to post in the right forum.

i have some downloaded AVI files that i want to convert to VCD. i have the DiVX codec installed and i can play the movies fine in Media Player but when i load them into TMPGEnc it says that it can't open the file or the file format is unsupported. i am using the latest version of TMPGEnc. i downloaded other clips from the same site and they worked fine.

i renamed the files and some of the names are quite long would that make a difference?

    thanks for the help.

ps: i am running WinXP and i am using DiVX codec 3.11

does the avi have VBR audio?
if so that might be the problem.
