This article by digitalFAQ at http://digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm gives a table of quality rating of DVD media IDs and gives the manufacturer but not disk label names.

Just curious to know what label names are considered good quality for non critical data that you would prefer not to lose.

At computer swap meets in Australia budget DVD-Rs cost $16 to $20 for 50 wheras TDK and Sony are more expensive and Verbatim are the most expensive but are suggested for archiving important info.

What label names are good of the budget disks. You can't check the Media IDs until you get them home and even then some brands have multiple sources.

Are there any forums on this site that state DVD-R label name and likely Media ID and rated quality.

I used to get the "Record" brand of DVD-R from computer swap meetings, never had a bad burn with them yet.

On the cake stand of 50 they have written on them Azo dye & Pioneer certified.

I use a Pioneer burner, haven't purchased any for quite a while, still have 50 left.

Could also checkout DVD media under LISTS on the left.
