Choppy picture only on DVD PLAYER for SVCD?

so far the converted video works flawless on my PC but only when i go to play it on the DVD player it gets really choppy after a couple minutes. The dvd player has great reviews and no one has any SVCD problems with it. I am using MAXELL CD-r

Generally, CD media doesn't have the media compatibility problems that DVDs sometimes have, so that may not be the problem. But there is a off chance that the media is causing a problem. Try a different media.

Being able to play on a PC doesn't mean a lot, as a software player can accept some corruption and still play properly. I would try the CD on a different standalone player.

What program are you using to convert to SVCD? If your video adheres to the SVCD format for bitrate and the rest, it should work. The SVCD format: http://www.videohelp.com/svcd

soljahhi - Welcome to the forums. Like many new members, you make the mistake of thinking that the less you tell us, the more likely you are to get help. In fact, it is the opposite. Would you take your car to a mechanic and they say that something is wrong, but you aren't going to tell him what it is? Of course not.

It would have been helpful to know what model of DVD player you have. Maxell is CRAP media. Yes, your media MIGHT be the problem, but we would need to know what this "great" DVD player is first. Most likely the problem is that your video bit rate is too high. Download the free Teco Bit Rate Viewer at http://www.tecoltd.com and analyze your SVCD with it. If your maximum bit rate is over 2600, that might be the problem. I've seen issues like you describe on some DVD players if the video bit rate gets too high. SVCD allows a maximum bit rate of 2723 Kbps which is for audio PLUS video. WinAVI is crap. I know nothing about the Cucusoft program, but DVD2SVCD is probably the best program there is for making SVCDs. PCs will play all kinds of discs that violate standards. If your SVCDs are not compliant, which usually means the bit rate is too high, that's most likely your problem.

SVCD is kind of a dead format. Since you don't live in a 3rd world country, I'll politely suggest that you consider whether or not it's really worth your effort to continue to make them. DVD discs are now about as cheap as CD-Rs and burners are not expensive at all. I find that usually people in America who are still into SVCD mistakenly think that DVD burners cost hundreds of dollars, when in fact you can get good burners for $50 or less.

If your maximum bit rate is over 2600, that might be the problem.

I'd be bolder, and say "If your maximum bit rate is over 2200-2300, that might be the problem" I've found some (many?) players that say SVCD that not support the full standard.
