Converting AVI/DIVX/DVD to WMV for xbox360

I want to be able to watch stuff on my Xbox 360 using my PC and either Zume or Tveristy.

I have a bunch of avi's and divx...but the 360 can only view wmv files.

I have winavi...but it won't convert everything. Some avi's it has worked...others cause the program to crash without warning.

What's the best way to do this? I can watch the stuff on my PC monitor..but I want to use the XBOX360 and my big screen TV.

If you have a lot of DivX and XviD AVI files then the simple solution is not to convert (which can take ages and degrade the quality) but to buy a MPEG-4 capable DVD player so that you can burn the AVI files to CD or DVD and just play them "as-is" on the DVD player.

The Philips DVP-5140 can do this and is relatively cheap ... WALMART sells it for just under $50 US Dollars.

I don't know much about the XboX 360 other than you just said that it will only play WMV files.

I know there is a way (I don't know the details) to stream from the PC to a regular Xbox and in that way you can play MPEG-4 files such as DivX and XviD files. I don't know if this is possible with the Xbox 360 but I know that you needed a moded Xbox to do this so I assume you to need to mod a Xbox 360 to do the same if it is possible.

You are probably better off seeking a forum group dedicated to gaming consoles than a video site like this one.
