Hello. I've just bought a HDD/DVD recorder LG RH177. I have a LG LCD TV 37LP1D. How can I make the connection to have the best result when watching through the recorder and the play back? I followed the manual steps to connect, but the image from the HDD/DVD recorder is like coming from analog signal. I'm just a beginner and don't understand much about the abbreviations and stuff. Is it possible to have in the recorder the same digital image from TV? Can someone help me, please?

Do you have HDTV source? The TV seems to have a HD tuner built in for over the air reception.

    Normal connection:

Coax from antenna to 2x splitter, one coax to TV and the other to the DVD recorder*.

Analog component (green-red-blue) and audio (white-red) from recorder to HDTV. Surround audio (S/PDIF optical or digital) to Dolby capable audio receiver-amp.

The DVD player records in 576i. To play these DVD back set output to 576i and the TV deinterlacer will process the playback to 1366x768p for display.

For commercial DVD playback, you might get better results setting player output to 576p (progressive). The TV will then process 720x576p to 1366x768p for display. In this mode, a 576i DVD will be deinterlaced to 576p in the DVD player.

Try both types of DVD in 576i and 576p output modes to the TV and see which looks best to you.

When you set the TV tuner to an HD broadcast, the TV tuner will receive 1080i or 720p and convert either to 1366x768p for display.

*If you daisy chain coax through the DVD recorder to the TV, you may never be able to tune an HD broadcast. Better to use the splitter so the TV can tune PAL or HD while the tuner in the DVD recorder can be tuned to a PAL channel independently.
