    Hello all,

I searched a little through the forums and really could not find the proper answer.

I just picked up a DVD/VCR Recorder and would like to run my Comcast DVR Cable box through it. I would like to do this in a way that it would run straight through similar to how you would setup a vcr.

Is this possible? As well, is there a better option for doing this?

    Thanks!

    Tom

You'll need to run video and audio cables from the cable box line outputs to the recorder's line inputs. Then tune the recorder to the selected line input to receive what's showing on the cable box. You'll also need to connect video and audio cables from the recorder's line output to the TV's line input.

In addition, have the RF cable from the wall go first to the DVD recorder before going from the recorder to the cable box. In this way you can use the recorder's tuner to record non-digital channels. The RF output from the recorder is just a pass through of the RF input, so it doesn't have any affect on the cable box regardless of what channel you are tuned to with the recorder.

  3. It you are using a motorola box I can't help you; if your system uses a scientific atlantic box I can. SA boxes using SARA have a "Copy to VCR" output/mode.
